This high-level digital event is jointly organized by the ILO and Nordic countries on the eve of the XXII World Congress organized by the ILO, ISSA, Canada and partners. The event will be open for all World Congress participants and other occupational safety and health (OSH) experts worldwide, as well as the general public. The webinar, organized by ILO and the Nordic countries, will present the latest research on the unpredictable world of work and proactive preventive actions to ensure Decent and Safe Work. The event will include remarks from high-level guests, including ILO Director General Guy Ryder.

The COVID-19 pandemic has catapulted the world of work into the future, with many extraordinary changes to the world of work. There have been increases in atypical work, alongside exponential increases in teleworking and remote work, with digitalization of many tasks.

These changes have major impacts on occupational safety and health, including the lines between work and home life and on the rights of all workers.

Several studies have endeavoured to foresee the impact of on-going and future changes, some have aimed to identify actions by OSH experts to steer these changes into channels that give positive improvements for working people.

This webinar will examine the conclusions of the Nordic report “Work today and in the future: Perspectives on OSH challenges and opportunities for the Nordic labour inspectorates” and include remarks by distinguished experts and policymakers.
