Using the supply chain to promote higher standards of safety and health at work can be immensely effective. Building on recent practical experience, this workshop provided an opportunity for large and small enterprises, government representatives, employers, workers and others to discuss the challenges of using the supply chain in this way and to agree a way forward. As part of the workshop, 3 working groups also considered particular case studies on how multi-national enterprises and other large organizations can influence their suppliers' safety and health performance, the accreditation of suppliers and how their performance can be measured in practice.
