Mr Hussein Macarambon

Hussein joined ILO Manila Office as the National project coordinator for the Integrated Programme on Fair Recruitment (FAIR). This global project seeks to contribute to the promotion of fair recruitment practices globally and across specific migration corridors in North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. Target countries for pilot projects include Tunisia, Jordan, Nepal and the Philippines.

Prior to joining ILO, Hussein worked with the UNESCO Regional Office in Jakarta as Liaison Officer and has been involved in the technical working group of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework of the UN Country Team in the Philippines. Having a strong monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and research background, he has previously worked as a consultant to the UNDP, UNAIDS, WFP, Asian Development Bank, and the World Bank Manila Office. He also served as a researcher at the Asian Center - University of the Philippines and was a Lecturer at the Political Science departments of the Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University Taft. He has an MA in Environmental Policy from the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, and a BA in International Politics from Kyoto University, Japan. He is working on finishing his second Masters in Statistics at the University of the Philippines - School of Statistics.
