    Strengthen protection of workers against radiation in Latin America

    The International Atomic Energy Agency and the ILO jointly convened a regional workshop to strengthen the protection of workers exposed to radiation in their jobs by using a new IAEA/ILO Safety Guide on Occupational Radiation Protection (GSG-7). The workshop was hosted by the Brazilian Government and took place from 11-15 March 2019 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

    Regional cooperation in the Western Balkans for ensuring the right of every worker to safe and fair working conditions developed

    In the frame of the ILO project “Employment and Social Affairs Platform (ESAP)”, funded by the EU, the Labour Inspection of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia have signed yesterday, 27 of March, in Tirana, Albania, a memorandum of understanding to develop regional cooperation with the aim of ensuring the right of every worker to safe and fair working conditions, as an essential element of social policy.

    ILO joins global efforts to prevent exposure to lead

    In March 2019, the ILO joined the Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead Paint (the Alliance), a voluntary partnership formed by UN Environment and the World Health Organization to prevent exposure to lead, while promoting the phase-out of paints containing lead.
