Towards better, improved employment-related social security in Indonesia

Building greater trust among relevant stakeholders, optimizing benefits adequacy, re-profiling members of social security for workers as well as synchronizing existing regulations were the four recommendations from the joint evaluation seminar conducted by the ILO and the Ministry of Manpower in Jakarta on 7 September.

Global action needed to tackle rising work-related injuries and diseases, ILO says

Work-related fatal injuries and diseases have increased from 2.3 million to 2.78 million per year according to new data issued at the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work held in Singapore. ILO launched a call for concerted global action to address new and emerging occupational safety and health challenges.

Examining two-year implementation of social security for workers in the digitalization era

Social security system for workers has been implemented for two years in Indonesia. This system covers four schemes managed by the Employment-related Social Security Provider (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) since 1 July 2015: the Work Accident Benefit, Death Benefit, Old-Age Saving Benefit and Pension.

MARAN, Malaysia: Some 100,000 self-employed taxi, Uber and Grab drivers will be covered under the Employment Injury Scheme after the Senate passed the Self Employment Social Security Bill 2017.
