  1. Regional Workshop for Employers’ Organisations from the Southern Caucasus and Destination Countries on Strategies against Human Trafficking and Forced Labour

    The EU funded regional project “Strengthening of comprehensive anti-trafficking response in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia” takes place in the Caucasus region covering Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia and seeks to contribute to the progressive reduction of trafficking in human beings in these three countries. The Conference is a regional component of the Project and will contribute to the development of a coherent anti-trafficking strategy for the Employers’ Organizations to take action against forced labour and trafficking in human beings

    4th meeting of the Committee of the Parties of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings. The aim of the debate is to determine the actions to be taken to strengthen partnerships and improve co-ordination between the different international organisations active in the field of preventing and combating trafficking in human beings and protecting its victims.

  4. Brazil: III Seminar of the National Pact to Eradicate Slave labour

    1 September 2010

    Launched in 2005, the National Pact for the Eradication of Slave labour is celebrating its 5 years of existence. The international seminar will gather the signatories of the Pact to assess the enforcement of the Pact, present the results of the monitoring process, and discuss the situation of supply chains facing the issue, and will also present good practices of employers against contemporary slavery.

  1. Action to combat trafficking in human beings for the purpose of labour exploitation: Identification and protection of victims

    The conference will provide an overview of the results of the “FREED” Project, present the studies on trafficking for labour exploitation and forced labour in Italy and Poland, present the national versions of the handbook for labour inspectors and discuss their application on actual cases, discuss transnational cooperation mechanisms between labour inspectors and law enforcement agencies in source and destination countries, and share ideas about future steps towards an effective response to forced labour and labour exploitation.

  1. European Parliament seminar on combating and preventing trafficking in human beings: the way forward

    10 June 2010

    During the seminar, members of European Parliament urged greater emphasis on this issue. As Parliament's rapporteur Anna Hedh said it "is 2010 and women are still sold into slavery - even though slavery was abolished long ago". The Swedish Socialist believes Europe is engaged in an "every day struggle" against it.
