News | 25 August 2021
The Cooperative António Sérgio for Social Economy (CASES) of Portugal, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITC-ILO) are co-organising the 12th edition of the Academy on SSE titled “Building back better: the role of the Social and Solidarity Economy in a people-centred and planet-sensitive recovery”. This virtual edition will be available in English, Portuguese, French and Spanish.

The Academy will stimulate sharing of experiences from different regions on the latest approaches, policies, initiatives and partnerships that promote SSE as a tool for promoting decent work in human-centred recovery and building back better from the COVID-19 pandemic. The recent global crisis, triggered by the COVID19 global pandemic, has accentuated the need for a new paradigm of production and consumption that is more inclusive and sustainable. Growing problems such as unemployment, precarious employment, climate change and inequality are forcing a rethink of conventional approaches.

The Academy will allow participants to exchange relevant experiences and methodologies with policymakers, researchers and representatives of the SSE at the global level. Participants will also have the opportunity to be part of a community that aims to boost the transformative potential of a different economy.

Participation is free of charge for selected candidates. Applications can be sent until 15 October 2021.
