    ILO and WHO will launch their latest joint report on The gender pay gap in the health and care sector during a side event High-level Political Forum. Following the presentation of the most comprehensive global analysis of gender pay inequalities in the health and care sector worldwide, a high level dialogue will examine integrated and intersectoral policy action to accelerate achievement of SDGs and boost political attention to the issue of gender equality in the health and care workforce.

    Long term care for the elderly in Albania

    Albania faces a growing need of long-term care for its elderly population

    According to a recent ILO study, at least 91 thousand elderly in Albania are in need of long-term care. Less than 2 percent of them are currently receiving formal long-term care services and most of them rely on family members, in particular unpaid female carers. With a rapidly ageing population and continual out-migration, Albania is facing an imminent challenge to ensure access to affordable and quality care services for all elderly in need.
