News | 31 March 2022
On 30 March, the International Labour Office has received the instrument of ratification of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, as amended (MLC, 2006) by San Marino, which became the 101st Member State of the ILO to have ratified the Convention.

While being a landlocked country, the Republic of San Marino has been a member of the IMO since 2002 and has ratified all major international maritime conventions. San Marino continues to expand its presence in the shipping sector, following the establishment in 2019 of its international shipping registry. After building a sizeable yacht fleet, it is now focusing on the merchant shipping sector.

The MLC, 2006 will enter into force for San Marino on 30 March 2023, that is one year after its ratification.
