The proposed agenda of the Meeting is to discuss progress made by the countries in the region towards achieving the targets set by the Decent Work Agenda in Africa, 2007-15, adopted by the 11th African Regional Meeting, as well as to set out future priority actions for the region to achieve the Decent Work Agenda in Africa.
At four yearly intervals, the African Regional Meeting brings together the political, economic and social actors from the countries of the region.
This meeting brings together governments, employers and workers of Africa to discuss ILO's planning activities as well as Decent Work strategies for Africa's development.
Among the Conclusions of the Meeting, the delegates stressed their commitment to the elimination of child labour, beginning with its worst forms. They stated that "the elimination of child labour in Africa represents a real challenge. To be African is first of all to respect and prepare the destiny of Africa through its children."
