Media advisory | 06 September 2022
GENEVA (ILO News) – New estimates of the number of people globally in forced labour and forced marriage will be released by the International Labour Organization (ILO), Walk Free and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Monday 12 September 2022.

The Global Estimates of Modern Slavery: Forced Labour and Forced Marriage report provides an updated statistical picture of modern slavery in the world and assesses how this picture has changed since the last global estimates were published in 2017.

The report uses data gathered between 2017 and 2021 and draws on tens of thousands of responses, including face to face interviews from 68 nationally representative forced labour surveys and 75 forced marriage surveys. The new estimates are disaggregated by gender, age, sector, and the public and private economies.

The report and all associated materials will be under STRICT EMBARGO until 07:00 GMT (09:00 CEST) on 12 September 2022.

Advance materials, including the press release, executive summary and full report can be made available under embargo to recognized media on request.
