ILO Chief meets with Thailand's Prime Minister
During an official visit to Thailand, the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) held talks with the Prime Minister and Minister of Labour of the Royal Thai Government.
The visit of the ILO's Director-General took place a few months after the Royal Thai Government, Workers and Employers organizations signed Thailand's first Decent Work Country Programme during the celebration of ILO's 100 anniversary in April 2019.Honour to meet with Thailand PM Prayuth Chan-o-cha in Bangkok. During his stay in Thailand, Mr Ryder also addressed Education International’s 8th World Congress and visited Samut Sakhon Port-in-Port-Out inspection centre, where the ILO has been supporting the Royal Thai Government, as well as Employers and Workers efforts to improve working conditions in the seafood processing industry. The ILO is the United Nations specialized agency that deals with work and work-related issues. It has a unique tripartite structure that involves workers, employers and governments equally in its governance and decision-making. The ILO was set up in 1919 and Thailand is one of the founder members.
