ILO to publish latest Global Wage Report

Media advisory | 07 December 2016
GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) is to publish the Global Wage Report 2016-2017 – the fifth in a series that now spans over a decade.

While the previous report in the series examined wage and income equality from the perspective of households, this year’s Global Wage Report analyses the extent to which overall wage inequality is the result of wage inequality between enterprises and wage inequality within enterprises. For the first time, the report also looks at wage distribution within enterprises.

The new report, Wage Inequalities in the Workplace, will be released on Thursday, 15 December.

The report and all associated material and information are under strict embargo until 20:00 GMT (21:00 Geneva time) on Thursday, 15 December.

Embargoed electronic copies of the report, and associated media material will be made available to journalists upon request, starting on the morning of Thursday, 15 December, by contacting newsroom@ilo.org.

For Geneva correspondents: A press briefing by ILO Deputy Director-General for Policy, Deborah Greenfield, and Patrick Belser, main author of the report, will be held, under embargo, on Thursday, 15 December at 10:30 a.m. in press room 1 at the Palais des Nations. They will receive the embargoed report automatically as soon as it becomes available.

Interviews by print, web or broadcast media can be scheduled via the ILO Department of Communication: newsroom@ilo.org, +4122/799-7912.

Broadcast coverage of the press conference will be made available for broadcasters upon request. The ILO TV studio and ISDN line may be booked for broadcasters wishing to interview the authors. Please contact the ILO Multimedia Unit on +4122/799-7935 or by email: multimedia@ilo.org.
