    People with disabilities are the world's largest minority group (1 billion people — 15% of the world's population; of which 785 million are of working age). They face many barriers to employment, including physical, information and attitudinal barriers. Stereotypes and misconceptions prevent them from accessing jobs because these often focus on their disability instead of ability, when in fact they can and do work. This short video aims to raise awareness about the benefits of employing people with disabilities.

    To mark the III Global Conference on Child Labour in Brasilia (8-10 October), renowned Brazilian artists Wagner Moura, Camila Pitanga, Gilberto Miranda, Priscilla Camargo, Osmar Prado, Bete Mendes and Dira Paes team up with the ILO and its campaign to stop child labour now by holding up THEIR Red Cards.   1. ILO-MTV search for good practices on youth employment

    The International Labour Organization and MTV have launched a campaign to promote good practices that support young people in accessing decent work. The campaign invites organizations implementing programmes on youth employment to submit their practices for a chance to promote them on MTV Agents of Change.   1. Promoting Fire Safety in Bangladesh's Garment Factories

    In March 2013 the tripartite constituents of the ILO - government, employers and workers - developed a National Tripartite Plan of Action on Fire Safety for the Ready-Made Garment Sector in Bangladesh. It came about after two devastating fires at ready-made garment factories in 2012 and early 2013 killed 120 workers and injured many others. One of the activities in the Plan of Action, is to develop and deliver mass worker education tools, such as this video, to promote safety and health in the ready-made garments sector.
