    The Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven and the President of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, along with the ILO Director-General Guy Ryder launched a Global Commission on the Future of Work today at the International Labour Organization’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

  3. B-roll: In conflicts and disasters, protect children from child labour

    Globally over 1.5 billion people live in countries that are affected by conflict, violence and fragility. At the same time, around 200 million people are affected by disasters every year. A third of them are children. A significant proportion of the 168 million children engaged in child labour live in areas affected by conflict and disaster. The World Day Against Child Labour this year focuses on the impact of conflicts and disasters on child labour.

  4. B-roll: President Tabare Vazquez addresses the 106th International Labour Conference

    Without dialogue there is no progress, said President Tabaré Vázquez of Uruguay during the opening session of the annual International Labour Conference of the ILO in Geneva. In his speech to the delegates of some 187 countries he warned that “we must not wait for the future, we must build it.”

  5. B-roll: Decent work and environmental sustainability must go hand in hand

    Guy Ryder, Director-General of the ILO, told delegates at the 106th International Labour Conference that job creation and the protection of the planet can and must work together for a sustainable future. The ILC opened today with the election of Luis Ernesto Carles Rudy, Minister of Labour of Panama, as President. The annual meeting of the International Labour Org. gathers over 4000 representatives of government, employers and workers from the UN agency’s 187 member states to set labour standards and foster progress in the world of work.
