3rd training of trainers course for labour inspection, Nanjing City

Under the framework of the ILO/NORWAY Project on Good Governance through Labour Administration and Labour Inspection, the third training of trainers course for labour inspection was held from the 10th to the 13th of September 2012 in Nanjing City of Jiangsu Province, China.

The Labour Inspection Bureau of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security selected two labour inspector trainers from each of 31 provinces to attend the 4-day training course, which includes a compilation of case studies and training methodology.

Mr. Giuseppe Casale, Director of ILO Labour Administration and Inspection Programme (LAB/ADMIN), attended the course and presented the ILC Resolution and Conclusions on Labour Administration and Labour Inspection as well as the ILO Plan of Action. Mr. Casale expressed his appreciation to the efforts made by the Chinese labour inspectors to modernize the labour inspection services in China by introducing the Twin Networks’ Management initiative.

Mr. Renato Bignami, from Brazilian national labour inspectorate, gave a presentation on the labour inspection system in Brazil and its good practices and answered to the questions raised by the participants.

China set up its labour inspection system in 1993 and today has a total of 25,000 labour inspectors. At the request of the Government, the ILO conducted a joint review on labour inspection in China in 2009 followed by the ILO/NORWAY technical cooperation project focusing on capacity building of labour inspectors.
