International Workshop on Labour Inspection Sanctions and Remedies.

More than 100 international experts, both academics and practitioners, took part in this two day workshop on one of the most pressing topics in labour inspection.

LAB/ADMIN in collaboration with the University of Ca’ Foscari (Venice), Department of Juridical Studies - Master in Labour Law, under the patronage of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies of Italy, and the Italian Association of Labour and Social Security Law, organised an international experts meeting on one of the most pressing topics in labour inspection, notably the efficiency of sanctions and remedies. More than 100 participants took part in the workshop. Experiences from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom were presented by academicians and practitioners. Prof. Carlo Carraro, Rector of the University of Venice, along with Prof. Adalberto Perulli and Prof. Fabrizio Marrella of the same University, and Dr. Giuseppe Casale, Director of LAB/ADMIN, ILO, Geneva, opened the event. Among the participants there were Mr. Paolo Pennesi, Director General of Labour Inspection of Italy, Mr. José Luis Pereira Forte, General Labour Inspector of Portugal and Mr. Raimundo Aragon, Director-General of the Labour Inspectorate and Social Security of Spain. The workshop was closed by Senator Prof. Tiziano Treu, former Minister of Labour and Social Policies of Italy. This event is part of the implementation of the MoU signed between the ILO and the University of Ca’ Foscari of Venice.
