Employment and just transition to sustainability in BRICS countries
This paper prepared by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for the 1st BRICS Employment Working Group meeting addresses the progress of BRICS countries towards a just transition. The impact of climate change on labour markets, economies and societies in BRICS countries is diverse and shaped by respective national characteristics. A comparative analysis of BRICS countries' nationally determined contributions shows where BRICS countries are addressing climate change challenges, and where there is room for further action. The report concludes with recommendations on how BRICS governments can promote green employment.
