ILO marks Mandela’s Birthday

The International Labour Organization extends its warmest greetings to Nelson Mandela on his ninety-fifth birthday.

On behalf of the International Labour Organization, I extend our warmest greetings to Nelson Mandela on his ninety-fifth birthday, wishing him comfort and serenity.

Today we also mark in his name, Nelson Mandela International Day for freedom, justice and democracy. These are fundamental values that he has defended with passion, dignity and integrity throughout his life.

The ILO will continue to draw inspiration from him and honour him as we promote these values in the world of work. Through our action we will strive to inspire change towards his vision of inclusive and equitable societies.

We join hands in solidarity with Mandela’s family and the people of South Africa in celebrating his remarkable life.
