Managing employment disputes effectively in international organizations

The first full-fledged training course on Managing employment disputes effectively in international organizations - developed and organized by the Office of the Legal Adviser - was held at the campus of the ILO Training Centre in Turin, Italy, from 1-3 February 2017. Twenty-eight participants from 21 international organizations, including legal specialists, human resources professionals and staff representatives, attended the three-day course. The faculty of the course was comprised of specialists from several international organizations, including the UN, CERN, IMF, WTO, IOM, World Bank and the NATO Administrative Tribunal.

The new standard course addresses themes such as dispute prevention and early resolution, informal conflict resolution services, internal review of challenged employment decisions, judicial appeals, ethics and conduct, and internal investigations. The objective of the training is to enhance the capacity of international organizations to prevent and manage conflict internally and thereby promote good governance and social harmony. It is targeted at professionals involved in conflict prevention and resolution within international organizations, including managers, legal and human resources professionals, alternative dispute resolution specialists, staff representatives, peer review secretariat staff and registry staff of international administrative tribunals.
