Series of Webinars on the role and action of labour inspection systems in face of the COVID-19 pandemic

In the week of 15 to 19 June, LABADMIN/OSH, jointly with the International Association of Labour Inspection (IALI), has organized a series of three webinars on the role and action of the labour inspection systems in face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A global webinar in English kicked-off the series on the 16th of June, and was followed by a webinar in Spanish targeting the Americas, on the 17th of June, and a webinar in French, particularly addressed to French speaking African countries, on the 18th of June.

The webinars brought together labour inspectorates’ representatives from different countries and regions, specialized regional platforms, other government agencies, ILO specialists, and workers’ and employers’ organizations, in order to exchange on the challenges to the effective undertaking of labour inspection functions during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the strategies labour inspectorates are using to overcome new challenges, and be prepared for new ones.

During the webinars, a total of 28 panellists shared their experiences and lessons learned to ensure the effective discharge of labour inspectors’ duties, in the current situation of pandemic. A wide range of issues related to the challenges faced by the labour inspectorates were addressed during the events, including the measures adopted to reorganize the public service, the relations with the users of the Labour Inspection system, the redefinition of priorities, the cooperation and collaboration with the social partners, new strategies and operational procedures adopted, the use of new technologies during the pandemic, etc.

The webinars congregated near to 400 participants from different countries and regions of the world.
