  5. How to make social protection inclusive of people living with HIV and key populations: a checklist

    This joint publication of UNDP and ILO provides a framework for countries to ensure inclusion of people living with HIV and key populations in social protection policies and programmes. It provides a set of questions to assist in the planning and evaluation of inclusive HIV-sensitive and gender-responsive social protection programmes. The publication is based on an online discussion and a Global Dialogue on Social Protection for People Living with HIV and Key Populations, organized by UNDP and ILO in 2021. The dialogue convened participants from 52 countries to share strategies and good practices and allowed multiple stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue on how social protection schemes can be more inclusive. The checklist was pilot tested by UNAIDS in Benin, Central African Republic and Cote d'Ivoire. The publication was launched at a pre-conference during the 24th International AIDS Conference 2022.

  8. Inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) persons in the world of work: A learning guide

    LGBTIQ+ persons face inequality, discrimination and violence and harassment on the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sex characteristics, everywhere, including in the world of work. They face discrimination in finding jobs and throughout the employment cycle. To contribute to the inclusion of LGBTIQ+ persons in the world of work the ILO has developed a learning guide aimed at representatives of governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations and other relevant stakeholders. The guide should help in the process of identifying and designing tailor-made local responses to ensure equal opportunities and treatment for LGBTIQ+ persons at work.

  1. Making universal social protection a reality for people living with, at the risk of, and affected by HIV or Tuberculosis

    Ensuring that populations who are living with, at risk of or affected by HIV and/or TB can effectively access prevention, diagnosis and treatment services is crucial. Social protection systems have a pivotal role to play in the coverage of both direct medical and non-medical costs, as well as income loss incurred due to the disease.. This paper provides examples of institutional practices that improve the inclusiveness of national social protection schemes for people living with HIV and/or TB and the responsiveness of such schemes to their needs.
