Decision on the fifth item on the agenda: Follow-up to the resolution concerning decent work in global supply chains
ILO programme of action 2017–21
The Governing Body:
(a) requested the Office to:
(i) revise and modify the programme of action taking into account the comments made by the Governing Body;
(ii) provide a roadmap for the programme of action with more concrete and prioritized areas of action for discussion at the 329th Session (March 2017) of the Governing Body;
(iii) start implementing the programme of action immediately after the 328th Session of the Governing Body (November 2016) with a focus on areas already identified as priorities, including (but not limited to) research, the development of the knowledge base and capacity building of the constituents, and to do so in a visible manner;
(iv) organize in 2017 a tripartite Meeting of Experts to identify possible action to promote decent work and protection of fundamental principles and rights at work for workers in export processing zones (EPZs);
(v) organize in 2018 a meeting on cross-border social dialogue, as called for in the 2013 International Labour Conference conclusions on the recurrent discussion on social dialogue, to address decent work in global supply chain issues, including human rights due diligence (format to be determined);
(vi) organize in 2019 a meeting following a midterm report by the Office pursuant to paragraph 25 of the 2016 International Labour Conference conclusions concerning decent work in global supply chains (format to be determined);
(b) approved the composition and arrangements for a tripartite Meeting of Experts to identify possible action to promote decent work and protection of fundamental principles and rights at work for workers in EPZs set out in document GB.328/INS/5/1(Add.).
