Decision on the first item on the agenda: Appointment of the Director-General

An election for the appointment of the Director-General of the ILO was held in accordance with the Rules governing the appointment of the Director-General, as amended by the Governing Body at its 312th Session (November 2011). The required majority being 29 votes, Mr Guy Ryder received 54 votes. Mr Guy Ryder was accordingly appointed for a second five-year term commencing 1 October 2017 as Director-General of the International Labour Office, on remuneration and other conditions of employment as determined by the Governing Body in May 2012.
