Cancelled

338th bis and 339th Sessions of the Governing Body

The 338th bis and the 339th Sessions of the Governing Body, originally scheduled on Monday 25 May and Saturday 6 June 2020, respectively, were cancelled by the Governing Body when it decided by correspondence, on 3 April 2020, to defer to 2021 the 109th Session of the International Labour Conference in the context of travel and meeting restrictions imposed during the coronavirus pandemic.

At its 338th bis Session, the Governing Body should have considered the financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2019 together with the External Auditor’s report thereon, with a view to their transmission to the International Labour Conference in June 2020, in accordance with articles 28 and 38 of the Financial Regulations. In view of the cancellation of the 338th bis Session, the report containing the financial statements and the External Auditor’s report for 2019 will be considered by the Governing Body at its 340th Session (October-November 2020) as the fourth item on the agenda of the Programme, Financial and Administrative Section (GB.340/PFA/4) and transmitted to the Conference, with any comments the Governing Body may have, for consideration and adoption in 2021.

At its 339th Session, the Governing Body should have elected its Officers for a one year term. The election of Mr Samariya (India), as Chairperson, and of Mr Mdwaba (South Africa) and Ms Passchier (Netherlands), respectively as Employer and Worker Vice-Chairpersons of the Governing Body, for the period August 2020-June 2021 took place by correspondence on 31 July 2020.

The texts of those decisions are available on the webpage of the 338th Session of the Governing Body, below items 2 and 17 of the Institutional Section, and the debates that led to them can be found in the Minutes of the 338th Session.
