METI in Morocco

Morocco is an ILO member since 1956  and has a fairly diverse economy in which trade plays an important role. The economy is relatively open, with exports and imports accounting for a large per cent of GDP. Morocco has also been making efforts to integrate employment concerns into its trade and investment policies, with the aim of promoting sustainable economic growth and reducing unemployment rates

A significant effort was made to mainstream employment into trade and investment in the textile sector, which is one of the country's key industries. Respectively, this was the sector selected by our national partners during the policy working group discussion

METI project aims, together with our partners in Morocco, to be able to discover the untapped export potential in Morocco’s sectors as well as focus on a value chain analysis through TRAVERA & STED approach to reach some recommendations of how Morocco can reach its untapped export potentials in the selected sector chosen by our national partners and hence create more job opportunities and support sustainable economic growth.
