A Simplified Guide for Micro and Small-Scale Women Cross Border Traders and Service Providers within the East African Community

The guide is made up of five modules which help women traders better understand and comply with rules and regulations within the region. Developed in 2015-2016 by the ILO’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Development and Economic Empowerment project funded by Irish Aid, the guide covers trading both goods and services and offers an overview of services available to help women in cross-border trading initiatives.

Module 1: Background to the East African Community (EAC) and key EAC statistics and trade data

Module 2: EAC trade rules, regulations and procedures on unprocessed agricultural produce and manufactured goods

Module 3: EAC rules and regulations on short-term/temporary supply or provision of services, movement of persons/people and workers

Module 4: EAC rules and regulations on right of establishment

Module 5: Key support services for small scale women cross border traders and short-term/ temporary service suppliers
