Partner with us

Project documentation | 25 September 2018
The Lab works through partner project to deliver on common objectives. The Lab aims to support projects to understand and address decent work challenges more effectively and through it, to generate knowledge that can be disseminated globally. The nature of support from the Lab varies from project to project and can involve a mix of technical assistance (including in-country guidance and hands-on advice) or co-investment to carry-out research activities.

How do we support partner projects?

1. Sector Selection and Rapid Market Assessment. The Lab conducts rapid analysis to first identify sectors and supply chains with high potential to provide better working conditions.

2. Market Systems Analysis. The Lab takes a deep dive into analysing why these markets do not function better or serve workers as well as they should. This analysis provides a basis to trial and test market innovations in a more focused and pragmatic way.

3. Technical advice. The Lab works with the project team to operationalise its results measurement system, help it engage with partners and execute interventions, and provide on-demand technical advice on market systems implementation.

4. Results Measurement. The Lab supports projects in both setting-up and operationalising lean yet rigorous results measurement systems and in conducting employment-focused impact assessments. Through Lab support, projects can both improve and prove employment outcomes in their interventions.

What partners are we looking for?

We’re always open to discuss potential partnerships with businesses, multi-laterals, NGOs and projects that have an interest in employment outcomes. Our work with partners is on a demand basis, with specific areas of collaboration discussed between the Lab and projects and set out in collaboration agreements. We have particular interest in collaborating with partners that:
  • Use or have a desire to adopt a systems approach to working in sectors/value chains;
  • Have a willingness and ability to co-invest in initiatives;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to monitoring and measuring results, not just to ‘prove’ impact but to ‘improve’ results;
  • Operate in Ghana, South Africa, Albania, Ukraine, Serbia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Egypt, Tunisia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Nepal, and Myanmar (SECO priority and complementary countries);
  • Work in non-agriculture sectors, such as construction, manufacturing, tourism and ICT, among others.
