  2. The ILO and the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP25

    The twenty-fifth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP25) organized by Chile, will be held in Madrid on 2-13 December 2019. The ILO will bring to the table the importance of the social and political drivers for a successful and rapid transition into more respectful economies, and will also be presenting the 'Climate Action for Jobs Initiative' an action plan resulted from the Climate Action Summit 2019.

    The 11th edition of the ILO Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) “The Social Economy in the Future of Work”was held in Madrid, Spain from 14 to 18 October 2019 . It brought together over 350 participants from 40 countries, from governments (national, regional and local levels), business and workers’ organizations, international organizations, academics and SSE enterprises and organizations who exchanged experiences, best practices and challenges in promoting decent work and sustainable development through SSE.

  2. ECOWAS meeting of Experts' and Ministers in charge of Labour and Employment (ECOWAS Social Dialogue Forum)

    15 - 18 July 2019

    In order to strengthen dialogue, coordination and collaboration among Member States in the labour and Employment fields within the region, the ECOWAS Commission institutionalized the ECOWAS Ministers in charge of Labour and Employment meeting in 2006. In the same vain, ECOWAS established a Tripartite Forum of Social Dialogue in 2011 by the adoption of the Supplementary Act A / SQ.1/7 / 07/10. One of the main objectives of the Forum is to prevent and resolve conflicts, to promote peace and social stability, and stimulate socio-economic development and integration at the national and regional levels.
