Circonstances: | The ship ran aground off Vietnam on 27 July 2016 having been hit by a typhoon but they managed to release themselves on 22 Oct 2016 now at anchorage of Hai Phong, Vietnam. Seafarers have been seeking assistance to survive because the owner of the ship has ignored the request from the master for food, drinking water and fuel oil, and they have been abandoned by the owner. In addition, some Myanmar crew have been on the ship for around 18 months and all of them have not been paid since November 2015. Latest is that PSC have agreed to allow the vessel into port.

Commentaires et observations: | Fed. int. des ouvriers du transport (ITF) (23 mai 2017) All crew paid and repatriated by new owner. Final payment made on 13 February 2017
Fed. int. des ouvriers du transport (ITF) (13 juin 2017) Three cases (Shun Da, Amiri and Yong Win 18) were already resolved but it was reported that some crew of these vessels had not been paid. Considering that their claim pre-dates the abandonment report, the current status (resolved) is not changed.

Dear Jinhak I write with reference to the Shun-Da, Amiri and Yong Win vessels that were all abandoned by the same company in China and reported to the database in 2016. The cases have now been marked resolved on the database because an arrangement was reached with the new owner to pay outstanding wages of crew on board. Unfortunately some other crew members who were on board previously and repatriated without pay have now contacted our union asking what’s happening since information has been circulated about the case being resolved. I think we have to consider that their claim pre-dates the abandonment report so the case should still be marked resolved, but could you add a note to the record saying that some former crewmembers from these vessels still have outstanding wages. I hope that makes sense.
Fed. int. des ouvriers du transport (ITF) (7 décembre 2017) All crew were repatriated by new owner who also paid their wages
Fed. int. des ouvriers du transport (ITF) Three vessels from the same Chinese owner: Amiri, Shun Da and Yong Win 18 have problems of unpaid wages, intermittent supply of food, water & fuel, & refusal to repatriate or engage with crew are located in and around Hai Phong.
