Please see below the information submitted by the Local Maritime Authority in Tenerife on the situation of the General Cargo ship ‘LILBET’, IMO Number 8649993, flag: Cameroon, having on board 3 seafarers from Egypt (1) and Greece (2) who were abandoned in Tenerife, Spain on 4 December 2023. The insurer is: UNKNOWN.

• General cargo ship LILBET was intercepted by the Spanish Customs Authority and taken to the port of Tenerife for an alleged case of drug trafficking. No legal proceedings have been opened for this reason so far.
• General cargo ship LILBET was detained by the Local Maritime Authority as a result of 2 legal seizures/embargoes for non-payment to a local law firm. Today the detention has been lifted following the release of the legal seizures/embargoes.
• A ship’s agent has not been appointed yet according to the Spanish port and maritime law. No formal request for call has been presented through Tenerife Port Authority single window system either.
• The lack of a ship’s agent makes the communications with the ship complex. It is highly likely that the General cargo ship LILBET will be detained under the Paris MOU once the request for call is formalised.
