Govt. of Palau (4 February 2022)
‘MERMAID’, is a former Palau flagged ship which had been provisionally registered for three months only (Certificate of Registry expired on 18/07/2021). Ever since, neither the owners nor this Administration did proceed with any further actions about the ship.
After we received the abandonment notification by ITF, we tried but we could not establish any communication with the recorded as owners.

ITF (10 February 2022)
The Syrian seafarer was disembarked on 3rd February 2022 and repatriated home with the assistance of the ITF. To make the repatriation possible, the ITF union contact in Egypt, has facilitated a new person to take over guard duties on the vessel. The seafarer remains unpaid for 10 months. The ITF has offered legal assistance
