Circumstances: | Vessel detained by MCA on multiple issues including unpaid wages for 3 months, lack of fresh water, no showering facilities. The Master had been on board for 13 months and had an expired contract; the chief officer had been on board for 3 months without a contract. The Indians had paid USD 3,000 to obtain their positions. Wages below ILO minima - the A/B was being paid USD 250/month. Seven crew members were repatriated following intervention of ITF, the Master remained along with the cook who had only joined the vessel a week earlier. Seven new crew came on board between 13-18 June. |
