Comments and Observations: | ITF (18 November 2020) This vessel is part of the PALMALI SHIPPING & AGENCY company, which has a number of abandoned vessels around the world.
ITF (9 December 2020) Application to arrest the vessel made on 21st October 2020. No crew on board, all crew repatriated on 23rd October 2020.
Govt. of Italy (11 December 2020) From Embassy of Italy The Maltese flag Sultan Bey, managed by Palmali Shipping & Agency, arrived in the port of Ravenna on 16 July 2020 with 14 seamen on board. The crew was repatriated on 23 and 24 October at the expense of the "Seafarers' Welfare Committee" of Ravenna for a total of € 10,937.60 (the financial security provided for by the MLC 2006 was not activated). In the absence of a response to the numerous letters sent to the flag State, it was not possible to prove the validity and/or falsity of the insurance. The ship is still subject to the following sequestration measures: • 300,000 euros for crew salaries • 130 thousand euros for the bunker • 190 thousand euros for cargo damage.
ITF (5 March 2021) All crew have been repatriated but have received none of the outstanding wages. The next court date is yet to be set.
ITF (10 February 2022) All 13 crew have been repatriated and received their owed wages
