Comments and Observations: | ITF (31 October 2017) The crew cannot obtain the Insurance Certificate from the Captain who is not co-operative.
Vessel is insured with Al-Bahriah Insurance and Reinsurance until 26/10/2017 but since Lebanon has not ratified the MLC it is not known if this would include abandonment cover.
ITF (14 June 2018) From: Katie Higginbottom Sent: jeudi 14 juin 2018 16:13 To: Noh, Jinhak Subject: Abou Karim II - update
Dear All We understand that the crew have left this vessel and that in January they attempted, along with 2 other creditors, to place an arrest on the vessel to get their money back from the owners. However, we further understand that Abou Karim II has now been seized by the Cape Verde maritime authorities as a danger to maritime safety given that there are no seafarers on board. Therefore the arrests have been overtaken by the abandonment procedure. At this time we do not know what has happened to the seafarers, we are trying to verify but have limited access to information. Best, Katie
ITF (9 December 2020) Contact with the crew has been lost and we have closed the case.
