In 1984 she won the gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympic Games, and in 1989, she was voted one of the 40 best Chinese sports stars since the establishment of People's Republic of China in 1949. After winning many titles at European and world-wide levels, she became a professional in October 2003. 2006-03-08, WD - Ms. Nawal El Moutawakel (Morocco), during the ILO International Women's Day: she won the 400-meter hurdles event at the 1984 Summer Olympics, has been a member of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), and of the IOC since 1998.
