Part-Time Work Convention, 1994 (No. 175) - Sudan (Ratification: 2019)

Display in: French - SpanishView all

The Committee notes the information provided in the Government’s first report.
Articles 1 to10 of the Convention. Protection for part-time workers. The Committee observes that the 1997 Labour Code has no regulations on part-time work. In this respect, the Committee notes that the Government indicates that: (i) the draft new Labour Code of 2021 contains part-time workers’ protection provisions but it has not been approved yet due to the prevailing circumstances in the country; and (ii) the 2016 Pensions and Social Security Act does not ensure that part-time workers have conditions equivalent to those of full time workers, but the reform of this legislation is under way with a view to bringing it into conformity with the Convention. Consequently, the Committee requests the Government to provide information on the measures taken or envisaged, including the adoption of new relevant legislation, in order to give full effect to the Convention. The Committee requests the Government to provide information on any progress achieved in this regard.
