Articles 7(2) and 8(3) of the Convention. Permanent and temporary exemptions – Compensatory rest. The Committee notes the Government’s statement that even though section 17 of the Hours of Work and Rest Law provides for a method of calculating the number of hours of compensatory rest, workers employed during all or part of the weekly rest day receive, in practice, a full day of rest. Recalling that the Committee has expressed for a considerable number of years the hope that, when the Act of 1951 is next amended, an appropriate modification will be introduced in section 17 providing for formal entitlement to a full compensatory day of rest as required under the Convention, the Government is requested to consider at the next suitable occasion the necessary steps with a view to fully aligning the national legislation with these Articles of the Convention.
