Direct Request (CEACR) - adopted 2023, published 112nd ILC session (2024)

Guernsey
The Committee takes note of the Government’s report.
The Committee recalls that the ILO Governing Body at its 349th Session, October–November 2023, on the recommendation of the Standards Review Mechanism Tripartite Working Group (SRM TWG), confirmed the classification of Convention No. 5 as an outdated instrument, and placed an item on the agenda of the 117th Session of the International Labour Conference (2028) for the consideration of its withdrawal.
The Governing Body requested the Office to undertake follow-up action to actively encourage the ratification of the Minimum Age Convention, 1973 (No. 138), which is the most up-to-date instrument on minimum age, in Member States in which Convention No. 5 is currently in force. Accordingly, the Committee encourages the Government to follow-up the Governing Body’s decision at its 349th Session (October–November 2023) approving the recommendations of the SRM TWG, and to consider extending the application of Convention No. 138 to Guernsey.

Direct Request (CEACR) - adopted 2007, published 97th ILC session (2008)

The Committee notes the Government’s report. It notes in particular the Government’s indication that work is in progress for the drafting of new legislation dealing with the employment of children in all sectors of the economy. The Committee hopes that the draft legislation will be adopted in the near future and requests the Government to provide a copy thereof once it has been adopted.
