Articles 4(2) and (3)(d) of the Convention. Compulsory particulars. Form and content of seafarers’ identity documents. The Committee notes that the Government has sent a copy of the new maritime seafarers’ book with its report. The Committee notes, however, that this new book does not contain the statement required by this provision of the Convention. The Committee therefore requests the Government to take the necessary measures to ensure that the statement provided for by this Article of the Convention is contained both in the new and in the existing seafarers’ book, for example, in the form of an ink stamp, and to provide a specimen (not a photocopy) of the amended seafarers’ book.
Furthermore, the Committee recalls that the Convention was revised by the Seafarers’ Identity Documents Convention (Revised), 2003, as amended (No. 185). The Committee requests the Government to provide information on any progress made towards the ratification of Convention No. 185.
