The Committee notes that the Government’s report has not been received. It hopes that the next report will contain full information on the matters raised in its previous comments.
Repetition
Articles 1, 2 and 5 of the Convention. The Committee notes the Government’s indication that the type of paint prohibited by this Convention is no longer used in housing construction and that the question of legislation will be submitted to the National Council for Labour, Employment and Social Security. The Committee reminds the Government that Article 1 (prohibition of the use of white lead and sulphate of lead in the internal painting of buildings), Article 2 (regulation of the use of white lead in artistic painting) and Article 5 of the Convention (regulation of the use of white lead in work for which such use is not prohibited) require the adoption of laws or regulations. The Committee requests the Government to take the necessary steps to bring its laws and regulations into conformity with the Convention.
Article 7. Statistics and extracts from the reports of the inspection services concerning the results of technical monitoring of painting work, particularly with regard to lead poisoning among working painters. Application in practice. The Committee requests the Government to send all available statistics on lead poisoning among working painters and to provide a general appraisal of the manner in which the Convention is applied in practice.
