1. The Committee notes the information contained in the Government’s reports, including copies of most of the relevant legislation. The Committee notes that while legislative effect appears to be given to most of the provisions of the Convention, it requests the Government to provide additional information on the following points.

2. Articles 1 and 3 of the Convention. National policy and plans to develop progressively occupational health services. The Committee notes that the Government refers to a national action plan on health and safety which, once adopted, would be a document containing elements for a progressive development of health services. The Committee hopes that the national action plan on health and safety soon will be adopted and serve as a basis for progressive development of health services for workers in all economic sectors and requests the Government to supply a copy of this plan with its next report.

3. Part VI of the report form. Application in practice. The Committee notes from the Government’s reports that relevant national legislation is not very well implemented and that, as a result, the Convention is not very well applied in practice. The Committee would be grateful if the Government would indicate the measures it intends to take to remedy this situation, and requests the Government to supply with its next report a renewed general appreciation of the manner in which the Convention is applied in practice, including extracts from inspection reports and information on the number of workers covered by the legislation.
