Allegations

The complainants allege that the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) refused to negotiate wage increment issues, despite several attempts by the complainants to compel negotiations, including a peaceful “work to rule” action in which 14 trade unions participated. They also allege the filing of a complaint by a third party unconnected to collective bargaining and judicial intervention restricting the right to strike of trade unions
