The amendments concern sections 3, 4, 9, 14 and their corresponding footnotes, as well as Annexes 1 and 2.

Defines what should and should not be considered as personal protective equipment. It defines conditions when an employer is obliged to provide personal protective equipment to employees, the required qualities of this equipment as well as rights and duties of both employers and employees with regard to the protective equipment. Incorporates Directive 89/656/EEC of 30 November 1989 into Slovak legal order.
Annex 1 gives a list of different personal protective equipments; Annex 2 lists different kinds of danger; Annex 3 enumerates activities for which the use of personal protective equipments is required; Annex 4 lists criteria for choice of protective equipment.

The Ordinance incorporates into Slovak legal system the Directive of the Council of European Communities No. 92/57/EEC of 24 June 1992. Sections 6 to 8 define the duties of employers in ensuring occupational safety and health on construction site. Section 10 gives some guidelines for cooperation, coordination and negotiation between employees and employers with regard to occupational safety and health. This ordinance repeals ordinance No. 510/2001 as modified by Ordinance No. 282/2004.

Defines employers' duties concerning prevention and protection against explosion. Sets out guidelines for evaluation of risks of explosions. Also defines duties of employers to coordinate protective measures with other persons who are not employees but independent contractors.
Incorporates into Slovak legal system the Directive of European Parliament and of Council 1999/92/ES of 16 December 1999. Annex 1 categorizes spaces with explosive environments. Annex 2 lists in details the minimum requirements for assuring the safety and health of persons working in explosive environments as well as the requirement for choice of protective systems and devices. Annex 4 specifies particular measures to be taken in spaces at risk of explosions.

Smoking shall be forbidden under certain circumstances during work and in working places. The prohibition of smoking in organisations is regulated by sections 133(13) and 135(2)(b) of the Labour Code (Zakonnik prace). Physical persons exercising commercial activity and moral persons shall create conditions for the protection of non smokers.
