Under Article 26(1) of the Namibian Constitution, read together with section 30(3) of the Disaster Risk Management Act, 2012 (Act No. 10 of 2012), I declare that, with effect from 17 March 2020, a State of Emergency exists in the whole of Namibia on account of the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Export Processing Zones Amendment Act, 1996 (No. 6 of 1996). Adoption: 1996-06-11 | NAM-1996-L-44644 Amends the Export Processing Zones Act, 1995. Provisions of the Labour Act, 1992 (No. 6 of 1992) shall apply in export processing zones, except that no employer or employee shall participate in a strike or lock-out.

Section 25 provides for a reimbursement of 75 per cent of expenditures incurred by a company in a zone for the training of Namibian citizens. Section 8 suspends the application of the provisions of the Labour Act, 1992 in export processing zones. Labour regulations for export processing zones shall be made separately.
