ENACTED by the Parliament and the President of Zimbabwe.

    3. Objective of regulations.
    4. Every business to notify extent of present or future compliance with indigenisation.
    5. Approval and amendment of indigenisation implementation plans and prescription of thresholds and timeframes.
    6. Indigenisation of merged or restructured businesses.
    7. Indigenisation of unbundled or demerged businesses.
    8. Indigenisation where controlling interests in businesses are relinquished.
    9. Indigenisation of projected or proposed investments.
    10. Persons or parties responsible for submitting forms, making notifications, etc..
    11. Proof of compliance with Act.
    12. Extent to which procured goods and services are to be subcontracted to indigenous Zimbabweans.
    13. Indigenisation and empowerment assessment rating.

    Export Processing Zones (Employment) Rules, 1998 (S.I. No. 372 of 1998).

    Sets forth conditions of employment in export processing zones. Prohibits discrimination in employment and provides the right of membership in trade unions and the right to bargain collectively in export processing zones. Employees hired for three consecutive months shall be considered permanent employees. Sets forth benefits in case of death or injury, maternity benefit, hours of work, and overtime. Part V provides that workers may appoint workers' committees to represent them in trade unions, and Part VI provides for the establishment of Labour Boards which shall be empowered to settle disputes. Part VII provides the right to collective job action under specified circumstances. Occupational safety and health matters are addressed in Part VIII, which allows, inter alia, workers to stop work in face of a bona fide occupational hazard.

    Regulates registration and winding up of corporations. Made under the Private Business Corporations Act (Chapter 24:11). Repeals the Private Business Corporations Regulations, 1995 (S.I. 194 of 1995).

    Regulates applications for investment licences and developer's permits.

    Competition Act, 1996 (No. 7 of 1996).

    Adoption: 1996 | ZWE-1996-L-45809

    Establishes an Industry and Trade Competition Commission to promote and maintain competition in the Zimbabwaen economy and prevent restrictive and unfair trade practices. The Commission shall also have the power to investigate mergers and monopoly situations. Schedule I lists prohibited trade practices such as bid-rigging, misleading advertising and collusive arrangements between competitors.

    Governs domestic and international commercial arbitration and applies, with modifications, the Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration adopted by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law.

    Implements the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States, ratified by Zimbabwe 20 May 1994. Schedule contains full text of Convention.

    Export Processing Zones Act [Chapter 14:07]. - Legislation on-line

    Adoption: 1994 | ZWE-1994-L-41989

    Establishes the Zimbabwe Export Processing Zone Authority, the Zimbabwe Export Processing Zone Board, and provides for the establishment of export processing zones and regulations thereto. Section 56 exempts investors operating and employees employed in the zones from the Labour Relations Act, 1985 (No. 16). The attached Schedule defines the powers of the Authority, which include the power to regulate benefits and working conditions in the zones.

    Land Acquisition Bill, 1992 [enacted in March 1992]

    This Bill, which became the Land Acquisition Act of 1992, was designed to provide a statutory framework for the acquisition of private lands. It allows the President to compulsorily acquire any land in the interest of defence, public safety, public order, public morality, public health, town and country planning or for a "purpose beneficial to the public generally or to any section of the public." It allows the President to acquire rural land for purposes which include agricultural settlement and the relocation of dispossessed persons. It repeals and replaces the Land Acquisition Act, 1985 (No. 21 of 1985)

    Zimbabwe Investment Centre Act, 1992 (No. 16 of 1992)

    Provides for the establishment of the Zimbabwe Investment Centre and its functions, the promotion and coordination of investment, and the constitution and functions of the Zimbabwe Investment Centre Board.

    Rural District Councils Act 1988 (No. 8)

    Adoption: 1988 | ZWE-1988-L-29271

    This Act provides for the declaration of districts and the establishment of rural district councils; it confers certain duties on those councils and provides for the administration of theirs areas; and it repeals the General Administration Act and the Rural Councils Act. The powers and duties of the councils include, inter alia, matters in regard to drainage and sewage, the acquisition of land, and the creation of cooperatives.

    Land Acquisition Act, 1985 (No. 21)

    Adoption: 1985 | ZWE-1985-L-29273

    This Act, which was later repealed and replaced by the Land Acquisition Act of 1992, empowered the President to compulsorily acquire land under certain specified circumstances.
