    Regulates legal basis for protection from hazardous impact of chemical products and sustances on population's health and environment. Defines the competences of State bodies in charge of chemical safety. Article 11 and 16 regualte, inter alia, question of occupational safety in relation to chemical safety.

    This Law establishes legal grounds for ensuring radiation safety of the population and environment. The basic principles for ensuring radiation safety shall be: (a) rate setting - keeping radiation dosage status within established limits; (b) substantiation - prohibition of the use of sources of ionizing radiation when received dosage shall not exceed possible damage caused by additional radiation; (c) optimization - keeping the lowest possible level of radiation in the process of use of the sources of ionizing radiation; and (d) emergency optimization - emergency measures that produce more benefits than damage. The Act consists of 5 Sections divided into 27 articles: (1) general provisions; (2) state regulation in the sphere of ensuring radiation safety; (3) general requirements for ensuring radiation safety; (4) ensuring radiation safety in case of nuclear disaster; and (5) rights and duties of citizens and social organizations in relation to radiation safety. Import of radioactive waste to Turkmenistan for storage and burial shall be prohibited. Citizens and social organizations shall be granted access to information related to radiation safety.
