Amends the Act, inter alia, by widening the definition of "partner", in the phrase "spouse or partner" and in related contexts, to mean a civil union partner or a de facto partner and "spouse" means husband or wife.

Amends the Summary Proceedings Act 1957, in particular concerning attachment of a workers' wages or salary (ss. 103-106C). Contains protection against dismissal of an employee in respect of whom an attachment order has been served on his or her employer.
