(1) The purpose of this Act is to stop and prevent family violence by—
(a) recognising that family violence, in all its forms, is unacceptable; and
(b) stopping and preventing perpetrators from inflicting family violence; and
(c) keeping victims, including children, safe from family violence.

Domestic Violence - Victims' Protection Act 2018 (2018 No 21). - Adoption: 2018-07-30 | NZL-2018-L-108268 The Domestic Violence – Victims’ Protection Act 2018 adds legal protections in the workplace for people affected by domestic violence. The Act gives employees affected by domestic violence the right to:
- take at least 10 days of paid domestic violence leave. This is separate from annual leave, sick leave and bereavement leave.
- ask for up to 2 months short-term flexible working arrangements.
- not be treated adversely in the workplace because they might have experienced domestic violence.

Child Protection (Child Sex Offender Government Agency Registration) Act 2016 (2016 No 42). - Adoption: 2016-09-14 | NZL-2016-L-103736 The purpose of this Act is to establish a Child Sex Offender Register that will reduce sexual reoffending against child victims, and the risk posed by serious child sex offenders, by—
(a) providing government agencies with the information needed to monitor child sex offenders in the community, including after the completion of the sentence; and
(b) providing up-to-date information that assists the Police to more rapidly resolve cases of child sexual offending.

Makes provision for administration of institutions (Part 2), movement of inmates (Part 3), inmate treatment and welfare, including working conditions (Part 4), special categories of inmates (Part 5), discipline and order (Part 6), drug and alcohol testing (Part 7), complaints (Part 8), and security officers (Part 9). Section 38 declares that, unless there is an emergency, no inmate may be required to work on a certain day if working on that day would be inconsistent with the inmate's genuine religious beliefs. This section also establishes that no inmate may be required to work more than 40 hours each week.
