    The Regulations implement the 2006 amendment to the Employment of Women, Young Persons, and Children Act (No. 47 of 1956) which added a new Section 20A prohibiting the employment of children in hazardous occupations. This regulation lists the 51 categories of work for which children may not be employed.

    Contains provisions regarding health and safety of factory workers. Deals, inter alia, with steam receivers and steam containers, air receivers, gas receivers, means of escape in case of fire, supply of drinking water, washing facilities, accomodation for clothing, facilities for resting for female workers, first aid, removal of dust and fumes, meals in certain dangerous trades, protection of eyes, shuttle threading by mouth suction, prohibition of use of white phosphorus in manufacture of matches, underground rooms, laundries, lifting excess weights, prevention of noise, precautions to be taken in factories where electricity is generated, notification of accidents, notification of industrial diseases, and investigation into case of death by accident or industrial disease.

Part III governs safe use of machinery, boilers, and vessels, and prohibits young workers and women workers from performing certain operations.
